WIF and WCF are inspired by the opportunity to partner with SCG, the largest company in Thailand and one of the largest in the world. SCG has become a leading star in sustainable business models, with green constructions, circular economy, development of sustainable packing material to combat plastic pollution, solar roofs for renewable energy, offset of carbon foot prints by natural climate solutions. Its interest in blue carbon with mangrove restoration correspond with WIFs core values.
SCG has a big presence in ASEAN countries. This may open up for mangrove restoration projects in Vietnam, Indonesia and other countries in cooperation with WCF's regional base in Thailand. WIF's additional targets in 2022 is to start a virtual mangrove university for global knowledge sharing and skills development to improve quality mangrove projects with 96% high survival rates of plants and other blue carbon projects in protection of sea grass meadows and planting/harvesting of sea weeds mitigating CO2 climate gases. It is also relevant to WIF's new project in providing assistance to the 34 Small Sate Islands with mangrove restoration in protection from sea level rise.
